The Motivational Speech

At one point in your life, you will feel.. overwhelmed, with everything that’s going on around you. You will soon find that it’s becoming a struggle, trying to juggle the things that are of equal importance to you. You will find yourself losing faith, and there will be times when you wish you could just escape from it all.

Sometimes, you’ll find yourself looking forward to the end of the day. Sometimes, you might find yourself secretly wishing for some minor obstacle to happen, if only to give you enough time to catch your breath. And it wouldn’t be surprising if you go through one day with full volume music coursing through your earphones, in an attempt to shut yourself  off from the unbearable noise around you. It’s bad enough when you find your work difficult, but probably much worse when you have to deal with people you wouldn’t mind not dealing with at all.

You try to keep your cool. You try to be level-headed. You try to convince yourself that everything’s gonna be okay. But like every other person who has at one point or another gone through this phase, the pressure builds up inside you. Slowly, at first. Without you realizing it, the stress is eating you alive, breaking you down into jagged little pieces, until there’s too many to count. And just like that, without warning, and sometimes even without meaning to, something snaps.

All of a sudden, you’re angry. All of a sudden, you’re cynical. All of a sudden, you’re depressed. And like a candle whose all but run out of wax and wick, all of a sudden you’re burned out.

Darkness descends, and you start spiraling down to an unfathomable abyss.

But you know what? You will get through this. Right now, you’ll probably find it hard to believe, but trust me, you will make it through this stage. I’m not here to tell you that it will automatically be all right, that you will suddenly be free from everything that brings you down. But like a seed that you plant in darkness, it will take a lot of time and nurturing on your part, before it matures and stretches out to see the light. You will get over your difficulties, but it will not be a casual walk in the park. Difficult, yes. But not impossible.

If no one else believes in you, leave them be. Believe in yourself, believe in what you can do. Work to improve on your limitations, and never stop trying to improve yourself. Continue to grow as a person, as an individual. There is much to learn in this world, and no matter how much you think you’ve accomplished, there will always be room for improvement.

This world will never run out of people who will bring you down. The trick is not to be one of them. It’s bad enough when others doubt your capabilities, but it’s much, much worse when you don’t believe in yourself.

There will be days when you’ll feel like your life has been derailed for too long. And sometimes, you’ll probably think you’re bound for a lonely, miserable end. But take comfort in this wonderful truth: You may feel like it’s already too late, but in God’s perfect plan.. in God’s perfect timing.. you are still right on schedule.

Now get out there, and give it your best shot.

House on fire, leave it all behind you
Dark as night, let the lightning guide you
Time to step outside; time to step outside
Time to step outside you
